• How much activity is actually happening in the system.
• Whether stars and approvals are lining up with real work.

• Look for trends before reacting to a single week.
• Compare participation with household reality, such as school schedules or travel.
• Use activity mix to see whether the family is relying heavily on one part of the app while neglecting another.

Stars are there to reinforce visible progress, especially for children or families who respond well to lightweight gamification. They work best when expectations are clear and the system is applied consistently.

• Keep the logic for earning stars understandable.
• Use the leaderboard as encouragement, not as constant comparison pressure.
• Revisit chore values if the family starts gaming the system instead of doing useful work.
