Exports & Sharing

Use an export when one person needs a dependable snapshot that will not shift while they are acting on it. This is especially helpful for store trips, handoffs to another adult, or moments when the recipient cannot stay inside the live app comfortably.

• Choose live views when collaboration is still active.
• Choose static exports when clarity matters more than real-time updates.
• Be explicit about which version someone should trust if you are sharing both live and static information.

The PDF is not there to replace the live list permanently. It is there to make a store run or handoff simpler when the live interface is not the best tool in that moment.

• A readable list of current shopping items.
• Enabled planned amounts and the family currency where relevant.
• A stable format that can be printed, messaged, or saved for the trip.

• Make sure the note title and first lines explain the context clearly before sharing.
• Trim obsolete instructions so recipients do not need to guess which part still applies.
• If the information is still evolving quickly, send the live note only when the audience can handle that variability.

4. 4If the source changes meaningfully afterward, resend the new version instead of assuming the old snapshot is “close enough.”

• Check whether they opened an older file or link first.
• Reshare from the latest source instead of patching the mismatch by text alone.
• If the mismatch keeps happening, review your workflow so there is a clear point when the export becomes authoritative.
